Word of Life Community Church began in 1991 under the leadership of Pastor Muga, with a small group of committed believers in Cato Manor. In our early years, we were part of the Pentecostal denomination (SAEM), faithfully serving the community and proclaiming the gospel.
In 2004, we withdrew from the denomination and joined the English Reformed Church, aligning ourselves more closely with what we believe to be the clear and faithful teaching of Scripture concerning the government and practice of the Church.
As a Reformed church, we are committed to the principle that “the church reformed, is always reforming” — continually seeking to align every aspect of our life and worship with the Word of God.
At Word of Life Community Church, we exist to glorify and enjoy God in all things — not only in what we believe, but in how we live.
We hold firmly to the theology of the Reformers, who faithfully rediscovered "the faith once delivered to the saints" (Jude 1:3), and we treasure the legacy of the Puritans, whose devotion to Scripture shaped every aspect of daily life. Our desire is to see lives transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ and rooted in the authority of God's Word.
We believe that the Westminster Standards — including the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Larger Catechism, and the Shorter Catechism — faithfully summarize the teaching of Scripture. These historic documents outline the core truths that we joyfully embrace as foundational to our church life and practice.
Our Core Beliefs:
Scripture: The Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God. It is sufficient, clear, authoritative, and necessary for faith and life.
God: We believe in the one true God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Salvation: Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. Through His obedient life and sacrificial death, Christ fully satisfied divine justice, secured complete atonement for sin, and earned everlasting righteousness for all who trust in Him. Those united to Christ by faith receive the double blessing of being cleansed from all sin and clothed in His righteousness — a gift flowing entirely from the sovereign love and grace of God.
The Church: The Church is the body of Christ, called to worship God, proclaim the gospel, and disciple believers in obedience to Christ.
The Sacraments: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are sacred signs and seals of God's covenant, given to nourish and strengthen His people.
At the heart of all we do is the gospel — the good news of God's redeeming work through Jesus Christ. What was lost through Adam’s sin in Eden — guilt, separation, and death — has been fully restored and surpassed through the life, death, and resurrection of the second Adam, Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.
At Word of Life, we are committed to:
Expository Preaching — faithfully proclaiming the whole counsel of God from Scripture.
Biblical Worship — worship that is centered on God's Word and shaped by reverence and joy.
Parish Evangelism — reaching our local community with the hope of the gospel.
Pastoral Care — shepherding and encouraging believers toward maturity in Christ.
Westminster Confession of Faith
What is the Westminster Confession of Faith?
The Westminster Confession of Faith is a historic statement of Christian doctrine, written in the 1600s by a group of English and Scottish theologians at the Westminster Assembly in London. It was originally intended to unify the churches of England and Scotland in their theology and worship.
Today, it’s still held in high regard by many Reformed and Presbyterian churches around the world as a faithful summary of the Bible’s teachings.
Why do we follow it?
At Word of Life Community Church, we use the Westminster Confession of Faith as a doctrinal anchor — not to replace Scripture, but to help clearly express what we believe the Bible teaches. It provides structure and clarity as we grow in faith and uphold sound doctrine.
